code of conduct

At GO Kids, we want everyone to feel safe, happy, included and supported.

Whether you are at school, in a sports hall, at a venue, in a park or outdoors, we expect everyone to follow these simple rules:

1. Be Kind and Respectful

  • Treat everyone with kindness and respect.

  • Listen to coaches and other children.

  • Use friendly and appropriate language.

  • Respect people's differences, abilities and feelings.

  • Encourage others and celebrate their achievements.

  • Never bully, tease, threaten, discriminate against or deliberately exclude someone.

2. Be Safe

  • Listen to coaches and follow safety instructions.

  • Use equipment safely and correctly.

  • Stay in the areas you are asked to use.

  • Tell a coach if you are hurt, unwell, worried or need help.

  • Never deliberately put yourself or someone else in danger.

3. Respect Personal Space

  • Respect everyone's personal space and boundaries.

  • Ask before touching someone and stop if they say no.

  • Never force someone to join in with something they are uncomfortable doing.

4. Have a Go

  • Join in and try your best.

  • Don't worry about making mistakes — they are part of learning.

  • Encourage others to have a go.

5. Be a Good Team Member

  • Take turns and share equipment.

  • Work together and support others.

  • Be a good winner and a good loser.

  • Remember that everyone has different strengths and abilities.

6. Bullying Is Not OK

GO Kids does not tolerate bullying, including:

  • Hitting or hurting someone.

  • Name-calling or threats.

  • Leaving someone out on purpose.

  • Encouraging others to gang up on someone.

If bullying happens to you or you see it happening, tell a coach or trusted adult. It is not your fault.

7. Phones, Photos and Social Media

  • Follow GO Kids rules about phones.

  • Do not photograph or film other children without permission.

  • Do not share photos or videos of others without permission.

  • Never use social media to hurt, embarrass, threaten or bully someone.

  • Tell a trusted adult if something online worries or upsets you.

8. Speak Up

If something doesn't feel right, tell someone.

You can speak to:

  • Your GO Kids coach.

  • Another GO Kids staff member.

  • Your parent or carer.

  • Your teacher or another trusted adult.

You will not be in trouble for telling someone about a worry.

What Happens If the Rules Are Not Followed?

Everyone makes mistakes and may sometimes need help with their behaviour.

A coach may:

  1. Explain what behaviour is expected.

  2. Give you a chance to change your behaviour.

  3. Speak to your parent/carer or school if needed.

  4. Take further action if the behaviour continues or someone is at risk.

Serious behaviour such as bullying, violence, discrimination, threats or putting someone in danger will be dealt with under GO Kids' safeguarding and behaviour procedures.
